 The management of people to do the work. (Boxall and
Purcell 2012)
WHAT IS HRM?????
 Human resource management is the
set of individuals who make up the
workforce of an organization,
business sector or an economy.

 Other terms sometimes used include


"manpower", "talent", "labor" or
simply "people".

HRM is the function performed in organizations that


facilitates the most effective use of people to achieve
organizational and individual goals.”

Human Resource Management is the managing of different


activities that are designed to increase and enhance the
effectiveness of an organization`s work force in achieving
organizational goals.

Up till the mid 1960s, HRM activities were
only limited to maintaining files related to employees
information and planning company social activities such as
picnics, company trips gifts etc.


As the time kept passing and by 1970s companies started
focusing much on HR practices in order to gain
competitive advantage.
