The Great
Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as
the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of
Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the
three pyramids in the Giza pyramid
complex bordering present-day El
Giza, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven
Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only
one to remain largely intact.
Located in the city of Giza, close to Cairo (capital of Egypt).
The largest of the pyramids is the Pharaoh Cheops with 147 meters high.
It is known as the "Great Pyramid”. It was built with limestone blocks.
It was believed that
over 100,000 men,
mostly slaves, were
used for the
construction of the
pyramid of Giza
because the ancient
Greek historian
Herodotus once
described the
pyramid builders as
slaves,but Egyptolo

took approximately
30 years to
complete it.
They used a variety of
mathematical
and astronomical
knowledge to build the
pyramids,because the
pyramids are perfectly aligned

Of the seven wonders of the ancient
world, the Pyramids of Giza are the only
