Speech That Made History
on June 12, 2005 Steve Jobs delivered a speech in
convocation of Stanford University.

He told the students 3 stories of his life. Nothing more.

And those 3 stories were about-

 Connecting The Dots

 Love & Loss
 Death
Why it Still Inspires 10 Years Later
• The Speech Was Short- The speech lasted for just
fifteen minutes. Ideal timing, not boring the audience
• The Speech Had a Theme- It resonates with just
about everyone who seeks meaning in their lives and
their career.
• Emphasized Triumph Over Adversity-  Stories of
triumph over struggle resonate with audiences
because humans are hard-wired to empathize with
one another
The End of a Genius

• Refused to undergo surgery for 9 months
• Tried natural healing but it didn’t work
• Announced a 6 month leave
• Underwent a Liver Transplant in 2009
• Returned to Apple on January, 2011
• Cancer relapsed once again
• Jobs died at his Palo Alto, California home
• His final words were- ‘Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow’
A Legacy Left Behind
‘I really want [Jobs’] legacy to be with Apple 10
years from now, a hundred years from now, a
thousand years from now’- Tim Cook
