Plot
 Introduction : There was a quite wealthy 35 years old man standing on some boards on
the bridge. His hands was tied up together with a cord, a rope was around his neck, and a wooden beam was above his
head. He was being prepared to hang up to end life.

 Rising action : Peyton Farquhar was a wealthy farmer, his dream was to become an army but he couldn’t
achieve it, but became a soldier and he hated to be a soldier so much. But, one day he became to be a perpetrator
for doing something against the law of soldier and have to die by hang up. However, he didn’t die by hanging up,
instead he fell in the stream and flooded in the rive and still alive.

 Climax : After he fell in the stream he tried his best to turn to his home to meet his
beloved wife and his children.
 Falling Action: While Farquhar was flooding in the river, suddenly, soldier found
him and started to shot him a gain and again and then he got some injures on his face and arm.
However, he dived deeply in the water so he saved his life from the shot by soldiers.

 Resolution: After Farquhar came up from the river, he found a quiet road that made
him had some hope to meet his wife and his children but all was darkness and silence. Farquhar
was dead with broken neck, swung gently from side to side beneath the timber of Owl Creek
Bridge.

Setting
 Setting of the time: The story mentioned, one evening when he first met a spy
soldier and a nightfall when he was really exhausted by flooding.

 Setting of the place: Owl Creek Bridge, Farquhar’s house, river/ stream.
Character
 Main or Major character: Peyton Farquhar.

 Minor character: Mrs. Farquhar and a spy soldier of the North.

 Supporting Character: Soldiers, sergeant, captain, saluted.

Conflict:

 External Conflict: Peyton Farquhar with soldiers about escaping and arresting.

 Internal Conflict: Peyton and himself that he can not make himself satisfy with his job as
a soldier.
Morals:
• Don’t loss hope when you are alive.

• Try your best to get what you want.

• You can deserve better.

• Change yourself by circumstance.

• Don’t force yourself to do what you know better that can not achieve.

Cultural point:
• Soldier will die by hang up if there is something against rules or law.

• Fight against other to get stronger and better.
