THE LIFE IN

SOCIETY OF
CHINA
THE CULTURE OF CHINA

The culture is one of the oldest and most complex in the world, a great
variety of customs and traditions in a very large area that incorporates
towns, cities and regions. The most important cultural manifestations of
Chinese civilization are shown through mythology, philosophy, music,
art or gastronomy. As for the Chinese society, it has always had a
predominantly agricultural character, and is based on four great social
relations with a very hierarchical structure. Chinese agricultural society
has always been ruled by the teachings of Confucius, an important
Chinese philosopher of the fifth and sixth centuries BC. After the
emperor and his court, in the epidemic of the pyramid were the names of
Chih, which included the owners of the lands and the officials.

RURAL AND URBAN CHINA

Chinese society is divided between rural china and urban china, the separation
the is very clearly reflected in the data, which often do not include figures for the
whole population as a whole, but figures for, for example, “employees” of cities
and towns ( 城镇 就业 人员 ) and for" employees of the villages "( 乡村 就业
人员 )

CONFUCIAN
TRADITION
Within Chinese society the Confucian tradition is
undoubtedly the most influential in the field of
thought and culture. For Confucius the family is the
basis of society and is seen as a kingdom with
hierarchies that imply relationships and moral
obligations according to the position that each person
occupies.
CHINESE SOCIETY
When talking about Chinese society in the first place it is
necessary to take into account that we refer to a population of
more than one billion people in which there are marked
differences depending on their economic, geographical or social
characteristics. A Chinese ethnic Mongolian peasant living near
the Gobi will have nothing in common with the circumstances
surrounding a Shanghai businessman engaged in foreign trade:
his conception of the world and life, his economic situation, the
social benefits to which can access, education, their behavior in
society and their religious beliefs will be radically different.

EDUCATION
After the death of Mao Zedong in 1976, education resurfaced as an issue of vital importance for the
development of the country. The evolution suffered since the founding of the Republic has been enormous,
taking into account that in the 1940s 80% of the population was illiterate and in 2005 the literacy rate for
people over 15 years old was 91%. However, educational development is still very uneven between urban
and rural areas, one of the main factors being educational financing policies.
