ARE THE LIMITS?
• BACKGROUND (Synopsis)
• Ivan is a science teacher and technical head of a preschool to 12st grade
school run by a Catholic congregation. Because of his reputation and good
work, Ivan is contacted by a family foundation and offered a director’s
position in another, much larger vocational-technical education school in
another city. This new school educates at risk stedents. As a new leader, Ivan
runs into a concflict with the board about wether some students should enter
instead of vocational positions upon graduation.
What is the role of the
school mission?
1. Focused on turning out graduated with a
first rate vocational technical high school
diploma to facilitate their entry into the job
market.

2. The children were to be educated


according to the values of faith and the
Christian doctrine, encouraging the
intergration of the family
• To educate the children and give them an
unparalled vocational technical education
which will allow them to become successful
and productive members of the work force.
Are these limits to this
values system?
1. Yes, it limits the values system.
they have the grades and the ability to pursue
professional degree programs at regular universities.

2. As a leader and teacher we should support and guide


them in that direction.
They have what it takes to become successful
professional,to hold excutive professional wherever they
choose.

Should be aware and be ready to accept the change
and challenge anytime and anywhere.

*Example: the educational plan before pandemic


covid-19 and after.

Principal should take own effort to improvise personal


skills from time to time.
• Principals also consider about teachers in the school:
(latest eductional skills,knowledge,training and development)
• Should also focus on school environment, student’s capabilities,
school culture.
• We cant achieve a succesfull outcomes if we only focus on school’s
educational plan. We have to add in some spices to make more
delicious food. Same goes to our school achivement.
QUESTION 3:
Is it wise to encourage talented but disadvantaged
students at technical high schools to invest more
time in prolonging their education,even if this
means placing the financial needs of their
families as a second priority?
TRANSLATION:

Adakah bijak untuk mendorong pelajar berbakat tetapi


kurang bernasib baik di sekolah menengah teknik untuk
meluangkan lebih banyak masa dalam memanjangkan
pendidikan mereka, walaupun ini bermaksud meletakkan
keperluan kewangan keluarga mereka sebagai keutamaan
kedua?
• I DO AGREE WITH WHAT THE PRINCIPAL DO. HE IS ENCOURAGING HIS
STUDENTS TO PURSUE THEIR STUDIES.

• IT SHOWS THE PRINCIPAL HAS MORE CARE ON HIS STUDENTS.

• AND MOST THE PRINCIPLS IN OUR COUNTRY ARE SAME AS IVAN WHO
LIKES TO CARE EACH STUDENT LIKE THEIR KID.IT SHOWS THE PRINCIPAL
NOT ONLY HAS LEADERSHIP.BUT ALSO HAS SOME EXTRA SKILLS TO
ATTRACT THE STUDENTS.
• ON THE OTHER PERSPECTIVE,ITS STUDENTS WISH WETHER THEY
WANTS TO PURSUE ON HIGHER EDUCATION OR WANTS TO CONTINUE
WITH TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

• MONEY SHOULD ALSO BEEN CONSIDER FOR DISADVANTAGE


STUDENTS WHOM WITH POOR BACKGROUND.

• NOT EVERY STUDENTS ABLE TO PURSUE.SOME ARE MORE TALENT ON


PERSONAL SKILLS SUCH AS MECHANICS,PLUMBER AND SO ON.

• 4. At what moment can the school safely say that its educational
mission has been fulfilled?

• 5. Would you consider ‘successful’ an educational institution that


responds to specific job needs in the surrounding community?
Answer 4 :At what moment can the school safely say that its
educational mission has been fulfilled? (according to case)
• The moment Aurora mention the student would be accept for any
internship programme at their place after the graduation

• The vocational-technical internship would cater that local business


demand, they would be accepted to get the job

• The graduate student will get paid for job and break the circle of the
poor family since they are at risk student

• The head of school also have faith of the student to able to further
their study at college or university

• This shows the school is at the right place supported by mission and
value
The Successful School……
• Economic aspect :Able to improve student achievement to
meet the needs of labour market

• In management aspect ; The successful school evaluated


from aspect of human relation

• The organization strive to improve student achievement


coincide with the standard benchmark

• In Malaysia context, a successful school is an organization that
successfully improves the self-improvement of students continuously
and the effort is recognized.(Diberi pengiktirafan)
• Not only earning for their lives but Family
• The Primary function of School to Socialize, Learn
Acceptance Behaviour ,The Norms of Society & Appropriate
Conflict Resolution
ANSWER NO 5 :Would you consider ‘successful’ an educational
institution that responds to specific job needs in the surrounding
community?
• NOT all school graduates will be further in professional fields

• For instance, in Malaysia context, high school graduates (e.g. :


SPM/STPM) also has the chance to get the job opportunity (wider scope)

• Some of University or College graduate not getting the job opportunity

• The most important are INTEREST & TENDECY to get


EFFECTIVENESS while doing the job in future
• My Opinion :YES ….IT WOULD BE CONSIDER Successful
institution will be ABLE to GIVE GRADUATES JOB
OPPORTUNITY and shifting their social mobility
• It is IMPORTANT to respond to job need surrounding community
• TWO type of opportunity for School Graduates :
• 1.Working in (eg : government , private sector, company or
organization)
• 2. Entering fields maybe eg : Agriculture ,Bussiness, Marketing, Service Industry
and so on with wider choice & opportunity
• ALL these fields need the person who is on the respective places to
supply the demand and needs for surrounding COMMUNITY
CONCLUSION :
• THE ROLES OF SCHOOL :
Schools should have a sound management system which involves the
participation of various stakeholders, including teachers and parents etc.
The school management should also establish a good management
culture to facilitate the professional development of teachers and create
a harmonious school atmosphere. Schools should also formulate
reasonable objectives and provide students with a proper learning
environment. They should offer students balanced learning
opportunities in the five aspects of development, i.e. moral, intellectual,
physical, social and aesthetic as well as nurture them to be responsible
citizens
