What is Reproductive System?
Is the system of organs and parts
which function in reproduction
consisting in male especially of
the testes, penis, seminal vesicles,
prostate and urethra and in the
female especially of the ovaries,
uterine tubes, uterus vagina and
vulva.
Chromosomes
Female – XX
Male – XY
Gonads – form on eight
week
Indifferent Stage –
Identical reproductive
organs
• During the early stage of human development, the
embryonic reproductive structures of males and females
are alike and are said to be indifferent stage. When the
reproductive structures are formed, development of
accessory structures and external genitalia begins. The
formation of male and female structures depends on the
presence of testosterone.
• Once it is formed, the embryonic testes release
testosterone, and the formation of the duct system
and external genitalia follows. And in the female
embryos that the form ovaries, it will cause the
development of the female ducts and external
genitalia since testosterone hormone is not
produced.
FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
Uterine (Fallopian) tubes- tubes that transport the egg from the ovary
to the uterus.
Ovaries – is a ductless reproductive gland in which the female
reproductive cells are produced.
Uterus – is the hollow muscular organ located in the female pelvis
between the bladder and rectum.
Cervix – is a cylinder-shape neck of tissue that connects the vagina
and uterus.
Vagina – is an elastic, muscular canal with soft, flexible lining that
provides lubrication and sensation.
