WEEK 4
AVOIDING PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism: an act of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization
and the representation of that author’s work as one’s own, as by not crediting the original author.
The following are considered plagiarism:
turning in someone else’s work as your own
copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation
changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not

Every semester, students receive a GPA based on the grades they earned in all their courses during that semester. The
formula used for the calculations of the Grade Point Average (GPA) is as follows:
(3.67 × 3) + (3.33 × 2)
To find GPA weighted by credit hours, follow these steps:
3 2
1. Multiply each numeric grade value by the number of credits the course was worth. 11.01 6.66
5
2. Add these numbers together.
3.53
3. Divide by the total number of credits you took.
4. Your GPA = 3.53.
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) refers to the overall GPA, which includes dividing the number of
quality points earned in all courses attempted by the total credit hours in all attempted courses.
