1. The document discusses the evolutionary perspective and biological and cultural roots of human psychology.
2. Key evolutionary developments that differentiate modern humans from ancestors include a bigger brain, bipedal walking, and opposable thumbs.
3. These developments resulted from environmental pressures like finding food, avoiding predators, and caring for young over a long period of time.

Class- XI-E Topic Evolutionary Perspective And Biological and Cultural Roots Evolutionary Perspective There are different types of people with respect to their physical and psychological characteristics. This is due to their interaction with genetics and environmental demands. There are countless number of species of organism in this world. But this species were not always like this, they have evolved to what see we them now from their pre- existing form. The characteristics of modern human was developed some 2 lakh years ago as a result of their continuous interaction with environment. The Three important features of modern human being differentiate them from their ancestors are: 1. A bigger and developed brain with increased capacity for cognitive behaviors like perception, memory, reasoning, problem solving and use of language for communication 2. Ability to walk upright on two legs 3. A free hands with a workable opposing thumb. Human development is evidenced by two facts:- The weight of the brain is about 2.35 per cent of total body weight, and is highest among all species The human cerebrum is more than other parts of brain These evolutions have resulted due to influence of environmental demands like- The ability to find food, avoid predators and defend young ones are the objectives related to the survival of the organisms as well as the species The environmental demand lead to biological and behavioral changes over a long period of time. Biological and Cultural Roots Biological system Our behavioral is determined by biological structure inherited by our ancestors in the form of developed body and brain. Use of drugs or an accident develops various kinds of physical and behavioral disabilities. Many children develops mental retardation and other abnormal symptoms due to transmission of faulty gene from parents. Cultural roots Cultural provides us with different experiences and opportunities of learning by putting us in variety of situation or placing different demands on our lives. These influences become more visible as we move from infancy to later years of life. Thus, beside biological bases there are cultural bases of behavior also. Thank You
