Introduction

Italy, a European country with a long Mediterranean


coastline, has left a powerful mark on Western
culture and cuisine. It covers an area of 301,340
km2 (116,350 sq mi) and has a largely temperate
seasonal and Mediterranean climate. With around
61 million inhabitants, it is the fourth-most
populous EU member state. It's the eighth largest
economy in the world and is a highly developed
nation. This makes Italy lucrative for Foreign Direct
Investment.
