Global Compact on Refugees
• Developed to deal with refugee situations with reference to their
increase in scope, complexity and scale.
• It aims at strengthening reaction to refugee movement in large
numbers.
• Facilitates equitable division of burdens and responsibilities posed
to the hosting countries.

History of Global Compact on Refugees

September 2016.

Framework.
• UNHCR held consultations with NGOs in 2017 to discuss a viable
solution.
