Identifying Cardinal Points
 We locate places using a compass.
 A compass is a special instrument that shows direction.
 A compass has four main directions also known as cardinal points.

 These four Cardinal Points are;


North
South
East
West
The Compass
Locating Real Objects Using Cardinal Points
 The sun rises from the east and sets in the west.
 If you want to identify directions without a compass, you face the east and
stretch your arms out.
 Your left hand will be painting to the North and your right to the South.

Physical Features
- Physical features are things found in a place.
There are two types of physical features.
1. Natural Physical Features
- These are things made by God.

2. Man-made Physical Features


- These are made by people.

There are many physical features in our surroundings and we can benefit from
them.
Examples of Physical Features

1. Hills
- Some people use hills for sporting activities and exercise.
2. Rivers
- We get water, sand, fish and useful plants from rivers.
3. Roads
- They connect us from one place to the other
4. Forests
- We get wood and other building materials.
5. Bridges
- We use them to cross our rivers from one side to the other.
Importance of Physical Features

 They provide us with very useful things. For example; we use rivers as our
source of water.
 We earn money for the country. The Okavango Delta brings tourists to the
country.
 They help create jobs for people.
 They make our environment beautiful. Hills, Forests, and Rivers make the
environment beautiful.
 The Okavango Delta is a beautiful place to visit.
