The Universe
The Universe
Our universe is large and it is full of dust, gas, stars, galaxies, planets and all living creatures,
including us.
Galaxy
• Galaxy is a group of stars , planets , dust and gas held together by gravity.
Solar system
• The sun and everything that revolve around it, is what we called the solar system.
• The word solar means sun.
• We live on earth
• Earth is a planet in our solar system
• Solar system is part of our galaxy (Milky Way)
• Milky Way is part of our universe.
Stars
• Stars are giant ball of superhot gas.
• They are different sizes and different colors like Yellow , red and blue.
• Stars seem to be very small because they are so far away, but they are so big.
• Our Sun is one of the stars and closest star to our planet the earth.
• There are about one hundred billion stars in our galaxy ( Milky way).
First: The Sun (which is a star) , serves to separate day from night.
Second: Stars provide warmth and light to our planet the earth.
Third: Sailors have been using stars to help them travel the oceans, so stars serve as
navigational aids.
Gravity
• Gravity: is the force that attracts one object to another.
• Gravity: is an invisible force .
Sun's gravity
• The Sun has gravity.
• The Sun's gravity keeps the planets going around the sun.
Orbit
• An orbit is the path (way) that an object takes in space when it goes around a star, a planet, or a moon.
• Some of the planets have smaller bodies called "satellites" or "moons" orbiting around them.
• Other planets have more than one moon , Mercury and Venus have no moons.
Always spinning
• Our planet is always spinning around imaginary line.
Earth Rotation
• Is the spinning movement of the earth on its axis.
So, each one turn around the sun Earth celebrate a new year.
Earth revolution
Summer
• Sometimes during the year, part of the earth tilts toward the sun.
Winter
• Sometimes during the year, part of the earth tilts away from the sun.
Spring
• Season of the year between Winter and Summer.
Autumn or Fall
• Season of the year between Summer and Winter.
The planets
Terrestrial or gaseous
• Some planets are made up of solids; they are called terrestrial planets.
• Some planets are made up of gas; they are called gaseous planets.
1- Mercury
• It is a Terrestrial planet.
• It spins so slowly.
2- Venus
• It is a Terrestrial planet.
• It is a Terrestrial planet.
4- Mars
• It is a Terrestrial planet.
5- Jupiter
• It is a Gaseous planet.
• It is a cold planet.
7- Uranus
• It is a Gaseous planet.
8- Neptune
• It is a Gaseous planet.
• It is a cold planet.
• It is very cold.
• It is a very small .
