• Learning Organization
– An organization that has developed the
continuous capacity to adapt and change.
– Why is it important for organizations to keep
‘learning’?
• To exist!
– Single Loop Learning
– Double Loop Learning
Characteristics of a Learning Org.
• There exists a shared vision which everyone
agrees on
• People discard their old ways of thinking and
the standard routines they use for problem
solving or doing their jobs
• Members think of all organizational processes,
activities, functions and interactions with the
environment as part of a system of relationships
• People openly communicate with each other
without fear of criticism and punishment
• People sublimate their personal self interest
and fragmented departmental interests to
work together to achieve the organization’s
shared vision.
