Quality of life of the people of Bangladesh.

Agriculture in the Coastal Belt of Bangladesh:

*ACI has developed a variety of improved, specially

adapted the stress tolerant seeds for field crops ( wheat,
rice, rapeseed etc).

*The goal is to benefit around 3200 farm families within 2

years of time.

*The seeds will be sold to farmers at discounted prices &

they will also be trained to adopt proper agronomic
practices, which will increase the farm productivity.

*After the first year, the farmers have increased their land
for crop diversity by 10-15%.

*They have also switched to the high yielding varieties
from ACI from using the local varieties.

*The project incorporates the women of each family to

carry out homestead gardening, to further accomplish
this goal.

*And this has been highly successful & women have

now requested for more varieties apart from those that
given to them by ACI.

*To further assist the farmers & the homestead gardens,

ACI has supported 8 nurseries in the project locations.
 GOAL 6 : CLEAN WATER  AND SANITIZATION
The ETP  Project

• ACI started Effluent treatment plant ( ETP ) in

Gazipur.
• It's a process of recycling waste water
• They also "Conserve natural resources like water
and energy for sustainable development, and adopt
environmentally safe processes"(Environment
Policy, p.2 ).
GOAL 6 : CLEAN WATER  AND SANITIZATION
Ensuring Safe  Drinking
Water

•"It was a year of significant achievements and

contributions for ACI as arsenic free safe drinking
water is one of the burning issues of the
area"( Sattar,2014,p.9 ).
• 11 Villages suffered from arsenic threat.
• 32 tubewells were placed in 11 villages.
•The water was later tested by Department of Public
Health and Engineering ( DPHE )
Business Activities enforcing SDGs:

 COVID-19 Responses
 Mobile Hospitals in rural/underdeveloped areas.
 Only brand running marketing campaigns on the proper use
of disinfectants.
 Only brand running marketing campaigns on price awareness
of disinfectants. Ensured price stability. (Savlon, 2015)
 Sponsors at social gatherings.
 Free disinfectants at super-markets (competed by Sepnil –
Square).
 Publicly available CSR and Sustainability report for all kinds
of stakeholders.
 CSR focuses on – Safety & Security, Waste Management,
Sanitation, Nature Conservation, Equality etc., in tandem
with most of UN’s SDGs. (Paradigm Shift, 2014)

CONCLUSION

ACI foods limited is One of the largest companies in FMGC

industry in Bangladesh and they are working toward their mission
and vision gradually. They are trying to addressing most of the UN
sustainability goals directly or indirectly such as goal No: 13 & 6.
