EARLY LIFE

• Born in Denmark in 1805


• Basic education from a local school for poor children
• Worked as an apprentice to a weaver, and later, to a tailor
• At the age of 14, got accepted into Royal Danish Theatre for an
excellent soprano voice but, his voice soon changed
• Danish Writer
• Died on August 04, 1875 due to liver cancer in Copenhagen
WORK LIFE

• First gained recognition in 1829 with publication of a short story entitled “A Journey on Foot
from Holmen’s Canal to the East Point of Amager”
• Invented writing of eventyrs, the adventure fairy tale
• Tales transcend age barriers, national & cultural boundaries
• No fewer than 3381 works
