Where is Kalimantan located?

– Kalimantan is the Indonesian portion of the island of Borneo. It


comprises 73% of the island's area. The non-Indonesian parts of Borneo
are Brunei and East Malaysia. In Indonesia, "Kalimantan" refers to the
whole island of Borneo. It is divided into five different provinces.
Traditional clothing of East
Kalimantan
– Pakaian Adat Dayak is the traditional costume of East Kalimanatan. Men
is wearing a sleeveless vest and knee-length cloth wrapped. Head man
wearing some sort of hat decorated with bird feathers. Women ear a
sleeveless vest and short skirts. The vest was there some kind of pattern
typical of Borneo.
Traditional clothing of West
Kalimantan
– West Kalimantan men wore traditional clothing in the form of headgear
decorated with feathers of hornbills, sleeveless shirt (vest), knee-length
trousers and fabric that serves as a belt. Usually, West Kalimantan men
also wore jewelry, such as a beaded necklace. Women usually wear
cloth covering the chest, as well as layers of fabrics which serves as
setagen and woven fabrics. Jewelry worn in the form of hornbill feathers
as a headdress, beaded necklace and bracelet on the arm. This custom
clothing comes from the Dayak tribe.

Wildlife of Kalimantan

– 1. The proboscis monkey, or Nasalis larvatus, is probably the most unusual


animal in Kalimantan . The reddish–brown primate has a long nose, which can
reach up to 18 centimetres (7 inches) in males. 
– 2. The world’s smallest elephants are among the cutest animals in Borneo.
– 3. The elegant and gracious hornbills, known for their unusual ‘double-storied
bill’ and looking like cartoon characters, live throughout the tropics in Asia and
Africa. 
Plants of Kalimantan

– 1.Rafflesia is a genus of parasitic flowering plants in the family


Rafflesiaceae. It contains approximately 28 species (including four
incompletely characterized species as recognized by Willem Meijer in
1997), all found in Southeast Asia, mainly in Indonesia, Malaysia,
Thailand and the Philippines.
– 2. Pitcher plants are several different carnivorous plants which have
modified leaves known as pitfall traps—a prey-trapping mechanism
featuring a deep cavity filled with digestive liquid.
