INTRODUCTION
 The word “Mechatronics” is coined by Mr. Tetsuro Moria a
senior engineer of japaneses company, Yaskawa in 1969.

 Mechatronics alternatively referred as electromechanical

systems.

 Mechatronics is centered on mechanics, electronics and

computing which this combination makes the systems more
simpler ,economical and reliable.
WHAT IS MECHATRONICS..??
 It is the multi-disciplinary approach to product and
manufacturing system design.

 It involves application of electrical, mechanical and computer

engineering to develop processes, great flexibility and ability of
reprogramming.

 It concurrently includes all these disciplines.

ELEMENTS OF MECHATRONICS
Actuators produce motion or cause some action(pneumatic
and hydralic actuator)

Sensor detects the state of system parameters, inputs and

outputs(temperatue,proximity,acceleration sensor)

Signals and processing in mechachronics systems for input

and output devices

Digital logic circuits control overall system

operation(microcontroller,PLC)
NEEDS OF MECHATRONICS
Mechatronics is needed to provide education and
training for a new generation of engineers who are
proficient in the combined application of systems design
as mechanical, electronic and computer-based control to
managing sophisticated manufacturing processes and
technology-intensive operations.
CLASSIFICATIONS OF MECHATRONICS
Quantum theory and nano
electro mechanics are
applied for NEMS

MEMS are completely

autonomus minitaurized
systems which are capable
of performing sensing and
acquisition function in
themselves
