Normed Space

A norm
   on a (real or complex) vector space X is a real-valued function on X whose
value at an is denoted by (read "norm of x")
and which has the properties
Banach Space
Definition:
   A complete normed space is called a Banach space.
That is every Cauchy sequence in a normed space X converges to a point of X.
The space R, C, , , , , C[a, b], are Banach Spaces.

An example of space which is not a Banach space is the space Q of rational numbers is a subset of
the Banach space R. Since the closure of Q is R, so Q is not closed in R. Q is not complete space
hence not a Banach space.
Q. Prove that in a normed space X, . The norm is continuous, that is, x Ilxll is a

continuous mapping of (X, ) into R.
Norm function is continuous
