 • Screening
Pre-treatment Process

These process is done by screening out

large items that have found their way • Grit chambers
into the sewer system, and is removed to
not damage pumps and stop the water
flow. A bar screen is usually used to
remove large items and is taken to a
landfill.

Treatment
Separate out between 25% and 50% of
the solids in the influent. These large
clarifiersallow for the heavy solids to
sink to the bottom and the cleaner
influent to flow.
Secondary • Aeration

Treatment
Aeration is done to pump oxygen into the
tank to encourage the breakdown of any

enough time for the organic material to be
broken down. The secondary clarifiers helps
fine solids sink to the bottom of the tank.
