Overview of
Uvic
UVic is located in the city of Victoria and is
the capital of BC. Uvic is ranked 2nd in Canada
for comprehensive learning, 1st for the
employability rate of the students and is
ranked 11th overall in Canada. Uvic has over
150 clubs and many sports teams to be
involved in. The campus is beautiful and is
walking distance to all the buildings and the
beach. Uvic would be a good school for me
because I love Victoria and it’s easy to get
involved in the school and community. Uvic
provides guaranteed housing for 1st year
students. They have all levels of education
and the program I need, as well as an
honours program. Uvic also has exchange
programs to Scandinavia, where I want to go
for a semester or two.
BA in
psychology

• Uvic’s psychology program is a study

of behaviour and mental processes.
They teach you about how the brain
works and how to foster healthy
development. The program explores
addiction, immigration, suicide,
homelessness, aging and more. It
allows involvement with the research
community and the ability for hands-
on field experience.
Why I chose psychology
Majoring
in psych
• I chose to study psychology because I’d like to become a clinical
psychologist.
• I want to become a clinical psychologist because I want to help
teens and young adults cope and navigate their feelings and lives.
• Psychology is something that has always interested me and I’d love
to better understand how and why the brain works.

Why I chose these courses

I chose Gender studies and Social justice because they are relevant courses and I find
interest in knowing what’s going on in the world. They can also be related to psychology
because they look at how events and societal expectations affect people.

I chose American Sign Language because I think it is a useful language to learn and I’ve been
wanting to learn ASL for a while.
