What Is Covid-19 ?
Covid-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a
newly discovered coronavirus.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to
moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special
treatment.  Older people, and those with underlying medical problems
like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and
cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well
informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it
spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your
hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your
face.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or
discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes,
so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for
example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
Where does this Virus Come
From?
The first case of this disease occurred in the city of Wuhan, China, at the end of December 2019. After that,
COVID-19 spread between people very quickly and spread to dozens of countries, including Indonesia, in
just a few months.

Its rapid spread has made several countries implement policies to impose lockdowns to prevent the Corona
virus. In Indonesia, the government has implemented a Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy to
reduce the spread of this virus.
Death Rate Due to COVID-19
According to data released by the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 of the Republic of
Indonesia, the number of confirmed positive cases as of 23 November 2020 is 497,668 people with a death
toll of 15,884 people.

From these two figures it can be ignored that the case fatality rate or the death rate caused by COVID-19 in
DATA COVID-19 Indonesia is around 3.2%. The case death rate is to present the number of deaths from the total number of
confirmed and reported positive cases of COVID-19..

Of all COVID-19 sufferers who died, 1% were aged 0–5 years, 2.3% were aged 6–18 years, 7.4%
were aged 19–30 years, 16.9% were aged 31–45 years, 37, 2% were aged 46–59 years, and 35.3%
were 60 years and over.

Meanwhile, based on gender, 56.9% of sufferers who died from COVID-19 were male and the
remaining 43.1% were women.
Causes of COVID-19

COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2, which is a new type of virus from the coronavirus (a group of viruses
that infects the respiratory system). Corona virus infection can cause mild to moderate respiratory
infections, such as flu, or infections of the respiratory system and lungs, such as pneumonia.

COVID-19 was originally transmitted from animals to humans. After that, it was known that this infection
can also be transmitted from human to human. Transmission can be through the following ways:

Accidentally inhaling the saliva (droplet) that comes out when a person with COVID-19 sneezes or coughs
Holding mouth, nose, or eyes without washing hands first, after touching objects affected by droplets with
COVID-19
Close contact (less than 2 meters) with people with COVID-19 without wearing a mask
The CDC and WHO stated that COVID-19 can also be transmitted through aerosols (particles of
substances in the air). However, this mode of transmission only occurs in certain medical procedures, such
as bronchoscopy, endotracheal intubation, mucus suction, and administration of inhaled drugs via a
nebulizer.
To prevent infection and to slow transmission of
COVID-19
