CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19)

COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus disease, is a highly infectious respiratory illness
caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The illness was first identified in Wuhan, China in
December 2019 and has since spread to become a global pandemic, affecting people in
countries all around the world.

COVID-19 is spread through respiratory droplets that are released when an infected person
talks, coughs, or sneezes. It can also be spread by touching contaminated surfaces and then
touching one's face. The virus is thought to have an incubation period of up to 14 days, during
which time an infected person may not show any symptoms.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, although some people
may be asymptomatic or have mild symptoms. The illness can range from mild to severe, and
can lead to hospitalization and death, particularly in older adults or those with underlying health
conditions.

To control the spread of COVID-19, governments and health organizations around the world
have implemented measures such as lockdowns, travel restrictions, and mask mandates.
Vaccines have also been developed and are being distributed globally to help control the
pandemic.

Despite these efforts, the pandemic has had significant impacts on people's daily lives and on
the global economy. Schools, businesses, and public events have been disrupted, and many
people have lost their jobs or experienced financial hardship. The pandemic has also
highlighted health disparities and exposed weaknesses in healthcare systems.

To address the impacts of COVID-19, it is important for individuals to follow public health
guidelines and for governments and organizations to continue to work together to find
solutions. This may include efforts to improve testing and contact tracing, increase the
production and distribution of vaccines, and support those who have been affected by the
pandemic. By working together, we can help to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 and build
a stronger and more resilient future.
