Social distancing helps prevent the spread of COVID-19 by keeping people far enough apart so that the virus has less opportunity to transmit from person to person. The virus spreads mainly through close contact within 6 feet. Staying at home limits contact with infected surfaces and people, reducing the chance of infection. Social distancing also allows those who feel sick to properly rest and recover without risking spreading the virus or becoming reinfected.

Social Distancing Helps Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing pandemic of Coronavirus Disease 2019
(COVID-19) caused by the transmission of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The outbreak was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in January 2020 and a pandemic in March 2020. Based on the WHO database, more than 44.4 million cases have been confirmed, with more than 1.17 million deaths attributed to COVID-19 as of October 2020. In addition, WHO and other health organizations recommends everyone to stay at their home and stay safe inside. With that in mind, everyone should stay inside their house during this pandemic to prevent and reduce the number of COVID-19 cases. First of all, social distancing helps prevent the spread of the outbreak. COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact (within about 6 feet) for a prolonged period. Spread happens when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks; and droplets from their mouth or nose are launched into the air and land in the mouths or noses of people nearby. The virus can spread from person to people, meaning that a person can infect more than just one other person. The fewer people you are around, the lower your chance of infection. Second, you might have physically contacted or in close distance with someone who has COVID-19; therefore, you could spread the virus without knowing it. COVID-19 can live for hours or days on a surface, depending on the factors such as sunlight, humidity, and the type of surface. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their mouths, noses, and eyes. Social distancing helps limit the chance to have contact with contaminated surfaces and infected people outside the home. The third is, staying at home helps recover properly. Especially when you are already feeling sick, your immune system is weak. Going outside will increase the susceptibility of infection and it will take a longer period of time to recover. Staying at home will give you enough time to rest, maintaining physical and mental well-being until completely recover. In conclusion, there are many reasons why social distancing is important to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Other than the virus is highly transmittable, spreads from person to people, social distancing is also recommended to help you recover properly. At least this is what we can do, as the participation of assisting the governments to stop the worsen of COVID-19 outbreak.
