CHECKS For brake application - Brake leaks
See full procedure in 1800SRM1038 Service Brakes

1. Apply 7 bar (102 psi) air pressure

2. The brake housing pressure must

remain at 7 bar (102 psi) for 3-5
minutes. If not,

4. Check external leaks with soapy

water first. Without success,

5. Remove the wheel hub, inspect

the spindle/hub seals for internal
leaks.

Brake System

The Brake System Filter

•Has a mechanical filter restrictor indicator.

•Has a filter restriction 3 psi switch that is in parallel to the filter

restriction switch on the hydraulic system return line filters.

•Either set of filters can turn on the idiot light on the dash.

•Check the brake filter restrictor indicator or remove one of the

switch wires to determine which filters are plugged.

ACCUMULATOR PRECHARGE CHECK

Proceed as follows:
• Lower the boom completely .
• Switch the engine OFF.
• See display gauge, MACC, on main manifold, MM, LH frame side.
• Apply the brake pedal repeatedly and observe the gauge reading.
• Repeat this procedure until a sudden sharp decrease in accumulator
pressure is observed (the piston has bottomed).
• The reading just before the sharp drop in pressure represents the
pre-charge of the accumulator.
• Refill with nitrogen gas at approximately 20 °C (68 F) to the required
pre-charge pressure => 10.35 Mpa (1500 psi)
• The pre-charge pressure which Indicates a possible failure of seals
=> 7.7 Mpa (1118 psi).
