Grade 4
Content: Distinction Between Thinness and
Thickness in Music

Performance Standards: sings two-part


rounds and partner songs with others
 A round in music is a song which can be sung
by two or more groups of people. One group
starts off and the next group start to sing the
same song a bit later. It should sound nice
together. When a group gets to the end of the
song they start again. They can go round and
round, singing it several times.

 Usually rounds are in 2, 3 or 4 parts


(meaning that they are for 2, 3 or 4 groups of
people). When a group of people sing or play
a round they usually sing it an agreed number
of times. This means that the group which
starts last also finishes last.
ACTIVITY:
 Group the students into 4 groups. Each group will be
given a task.

Group 1: Sing the song in unison


Group 2- Sing the song as a partner songs
Group 3 – Sing the song in unison
Group 4 – Sing this song as a partner song
Evaluation: Individual Activity

 Let them listen to the an audio songs sung


in unison and in rounds.
On a sheet of paper, they will write what
songs produces thin or thick sounds.
Grade 5

Activity 1 – Sing Together
Activity 2- Row, Row, Row Your Boat in 3 – Part
Vocal

 Group the girls in 2 groups and the boys 2


groups also.

The first group of girls will be the soprano, the


2nd group are the alto and the first group of boys
will be the bass and the other group the tenor.
(in order to know the voices, let them sing first the do re
mi fa so la ti do)
Activity 3: Each group will sing the song according to their
respective voices.
Grade 6
Content: Variations in Texture 1. Monophony
2. Homophony 3. Polyphony

Performance Standards: performs


accurately a given song with monophonic,
homophonic, and polyphonic textures

1. monophonic (one voice)


2. homophonic (voice and
accompaniment)

Activity 1 :

 Let the students watch and listen to the videos of


different songs sung in monophonic, homophonic and
polyphonic voices.

 The students will identify what songs are sung in


monophonic, homophonic, and polyphonic.
Activity 2:
 Group the students into 3 groups and give one song in
each group that they already know and they will perform
that song in monophonic, homophonic and polyphonic
voices.
Group 1: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Group 2: Row, Row, Row, Your Boat
Group 3: Baa, Baa, Black Sheep
