1. Chiding

- rebuking a person harshly objurgation , scolding ,


tongue-lashing rebuke.

Example:
Ben dishonors his parents as he grows quickly old, he carps at them,
chiding them with bitter words, hard-hearted them, not knowing the
fear of the God.
2. Perspire

-  to secrete a salty, watery fluid from the sweat glands of the
skin, especially when very warm as a result of strenuous
exertion.

Example:
Mostly an obese person walks or works everyday until they perspire freely.
3. Infuriate

- make (someone) extremely angry and impatient.

Example:
Samantha is afraid to express her true feelings, so she resorts in getting
the attention that infuriate her parents
4. Sacrilege
- a technical and not necessarily intrinsically outrageous
violation (such as improper reception of a sacrament) of what is
sacred because consecrated to God.

Example:
When Direk touches the sacred statue, it is considered an act of sacrilege .
5. Vindictive

- having or showing a strong or unreasoning


desire for revenge.

Example:

Sofia's vindictive nature leads her to strike her ex-boyfriend's motor .


The Cadaver
Exposition
Protagonist: Torio, Marina and Carding

Antagonist: Torio and Carding

Setting: Time - from the 1950’s to the present.


-daytime and nighttime.

Setting: Place - set at the dark, muddy, and the pungent


smell of cemetery slums—revolving around
the dead souls living in poverty.
Internal Conflict:
When Torio, keep on doubting about the affair between Marina
and Carding, he’s enemy is his mind thinking of things which is
not true. Also, when Torio, steal things from the cemetery and
doing this as part of his job. Then, Torio went sick due to the
things that he did. So here, we can see that Torio’s enemy is
himself he suffered because of his detrimental doings. Lastly,
when he says that why are the dead living in a comfortable place
while he was outside crying and suffering from pain.
External Conflict:
Struggle that takes place between a character and an
outside force. When Torio argued with Carding, that
why he told Marina about the real job of Torio.
The time when he don’t want to be admitted in the
hospital, but Marina insisted. And when he doubt that
Marina and Carding had a secret affair.
Rising Action
By the time when Torio told Marina
about their hidden business. Marina
cannot believe what she have heard.
Climax

When Marina found out that Torio and


Carding have been stealing from the
dead people. What Carding said was right
that stealing a things from deap people
caused to Torio's sickness.
Falling Action

1.When Torio explain to Marina how it was


easier to steal from the deceased rather
than the living.

2. Torio and Carding settled their


argument and became friends again.
Resolution
After what happened to Torio, Carding understand
the situation of Torio that he let him rest instead of
getting angry for bad mouthing him to Marina. Torio rest
in just hour, he passed away. Marina couldn’t help herself
to cry and burts out her tears. Since Marina can’t accept
the fact that Torio was already passed away, Carding try
to comfort Marina but they end up fighting. They
kneeled on the floor and end up of making the sign of
the cross.
Author’s Theme:
Beyond the grave: “Cadaver” as a reflection of immemorial poverty.
With wounded faith and free will, the one-act play Cadaver is a
reflection of the decayed human rights situation of the poor.

Symbolism:
The story "Cadaver" symbolizes the perennial problem circulating
Filipino families, a story that delineate death. Torio faces tragedy
beyond his wildest dreams. Cadaver or corpse symbolizes mortality of
life and also the cultural life.
Foreshadowing:
If you die you're completely happy and your soul somewhere
lives on. Total peace after death, becoming someone else is
the best hope I've got.

Irony:
The irony lines of the story is when Carding said Tonio that "
Your whole body is on fire"
