 Definition of Text Biography

 A biography is a story or information about a person's life. A more complex biography with a person's curriculum vitae and
occupational data, it also tells about the feelings involved in these events. In the biography, it is fully stated that the life of a character
from childhood to old age, even death. All services, works, and everything that is produced or done by a character are also made clear.
Biographical texts are composed by other people, not yourself.
 Biography consists of two words, namely:
 ✓Bios which means Life
 ✓Graphia which means writing.
 •>>Biography text is a detailed description or account of a person’s life and written by someone else, it is nonfiction text.
 Function of Biography

 ✓To know a person’s story about his/her life outside of any accomplishments this person may be known for.
 ✓To give much information easily and educate the readers.
 Characteristics of Biography

 ✓Biography is not written by subject and always written in the third person.
 ✓Based on research.
 ✓Describes the person’s surroundings (where, when and how the person lived).
 ✓Use vivid language to narrate events.
 Generic Structure

1.) Orientation (Introduction)

It is the opening paragraph, gives the readers the background information of the person. Usually contains narrated biodata
such as full name, place and date of birth. Some general information can also be presented in this section as an introduction
to the characters.
2.) Events
In events, should be in chronological order.This stage is an event or event that occurs by the character. Contains an
explanation of a good story in the form of problems, career processes, and various events that have been presented by
characters that have led to success.
3.) Re-Orientation (Closing)
It consists of a conclusion or comment or the writer. Tell about the achievement or the contribution of the person. In the
closing, this section contains the writer's view of the character being narrated. This revision is optional, which means that the
author can provide the views or views that are told or the author does not provide views on someone who is being told is not
an important matter.
