Discussion
the temperature log obtained in borehole1624-7 in the
region of Berkane. The temperature log was obtained with
an ANTARES Temperature Datalogger3;
the geothermal gradient substanti ally increases at a depth
of 300 m and could, to a certain extent, be explained by a
change in lithology.
Instead of decreasing (as it should because dolomites have
higher thermal conducti vity than clay), the geothermal
gradient increases.
For the moment there are no thermal conducti vity
measurements and so no heat fl ow density esti mate can be
done;
however, there are plans to collect rock samples of the
geologic formati ons crossed by the borehole to esti mate the
