 Why I chose this product

The name of my adaptation is called ‘Treasure’. I have adapted it from a netflix series called ‘Outer Banks’. I chose the name treasure as my
adaptations about a treasure hunt. I believe that treasure is a suitable name for my film as it is relates to the narrative and the simplicity of the
name is quite catchy. I have chosen to do this product because it’s an adaptation from a well known popular series on netflix. It is an action
packed film full of creativity which will entice and excite the audience. I feel like my adaptation is unique as there aren’t many British produced
films set in crazy locations abroad. For example, the location for my adaptation is in Charleston, South Carolina on a vast Island. Another
reason why I chose this product is because it ends on a Cliffhanger. This will give me the opportunity to expand my adaptation and make a few
more films. Therefore, this will create a larger audience which will make my adaptation more successful.
Why will this work?

There were plenty of characters used throughout the series who had a good part of play. The main character in the series is John B, the leader
of the Pogue gang. He is also the main character because the film is about them finding out why John B’s father died, how he died and
eventually hunting down the treasure that his father found ($400 million). The other Pogue members of the gang (John B’s best friends) are
Pope, Kiara and JJ who is John B’s best friend. There are other characters in the series such as Topper, Ward Cameron, Sarah Cameron (ex
member of the Kook gang, Pogue’s enemy), Sheriff Peterkin and many more. The audience for the original (Outer Banks) will enjoy Treasure as
it has a similar storyline and includes intense scenes. Treasure also includes younger characters which will appeal to the younger audience as
they can relate to them.
My adaptation will work because my overall production is a low budget which means that I’ll make a profit. Therefore, my adaptation will be
successful. The majority of my actors aren’t well known which will reduce the amount of pressure on them. This will help them relax which will
make them feel comfortable whilst acting throughout the production. It will work because I’m filming in a location where there are diverse
parts of the island when it comes to wealth. This will suit my adaptation as there will be a poor and wealthy part of the island. My adaptation
will work as the weather will be good which will decrease the chances of me having to stop filming because of bad weather. Also, this will
prevent the equipment from getting wet and breaking.
Adaptation
At the beginning of my film I will introduce both sides of the island, this will be the poor side and the rich side. One of the main characters from
the poor side of the island gets assassinated by a member of the government because they don’t have a good job. This infuriates the poorer
civilians which causes a riot on the island. Then there will be an announcement of the corrupt game created by the government designed to
lure in the poorer people on the island. They do this by stating that the prize is treasure and lots of wealth. This will persuade the poorer side of
the island to take part in the game as the majority of them aren’t financially stable. The whole reason that the government created the game is
to reduce the amount of poor people on the island as they are frowned upon by the wealthy people on the island. The game will then
commence where both sides of the island are trying to find treasure, it is rich against poor. The government tries to set up the poor people by
luring them into a trap which kills some of them but then they get caught out and the poor people aim to kill the government. Some of the rich
people are disgusted with the game so they join sides with the poor. The poor people then realise they can't kill the government so they decide
to escape from the island with help from some of the rich people. This is because they value treasure as ‘freedom’ instead of wealth.
Target audience
Treasure is about an Island of people who are entered into a brutal game to find treasure. The game is designed to kill the poorer people on the
Island as the government wants the Island to be full of wealth and attractive for tourists. This will appeal to a younger audience as the
theme/plot is fairly childish as it is about a treasure hunt. The target audience for Treasure is 16-30. I think that 16 should be the minimum age
to watch the series due to the underage drinking, smoking, drug taking, violence and sexual references/scenes. I feel like if anyone younger
than 16 was to watch Outer Banks, they might be really offended or they might be influenced to do what the actors are doing due to their
vulnerable age. Also, I believe that 30 should be the limit as the basic plot is about teenagers on a treasure hunt which won’t appeal to people
at that sort of age as it is quite childish. However, the explicit content extends the target audience to around 30 years old. Also, I believe that
the target audience is aimed towards young people because of the young characters that are used throughout the series. This will appeal to a
younger audience because they will be able to relate more to what’s happening as they are at a similar age. The gender of the target audience
is predominantly aimed towards male teenagers. This is because the film contains strong language, underage drinking and smoking, illegal
behaviour by minors, violence and sexual references. This type of content is stereotypically associated with males as they generally enjoy
explicit content. Therefore, more males will want to watch the series. The target audience’s spending power would be fairly low as they are
young. The majority of the target audience will still be in education. This means that they won’t be making any income unless they have a part
time job. However, the part time job is unlikely to be a good amount of income as they will work roughly once or twice a week on minimum
wage. Therefore, they will fall under spending power category C2, D and E as they will be earning little income. The lifestyle of the audience
would probably be people who are into action/drama films and who are trendy, as Outer Banks is a very popular series full of intense and
exciting scenes with many twists and turns.

Audience Profile - Paul Stanton

Paul is a 20 year old male who is a full time student at the University of Liverpool where he studies Law. He’s originally from Liverpool, however moved to Warrington
when he was in primary school. He lives in a big detached house in Stockton Heath with his Parents and his sister Issy. However, Paul and Issy have gone to University
this year and live in University accommodation. Paul lives in Liverpool and Issy lives in Durham as she’s a student at the University of Durham. Paul is well educated as
he has attended private schools his whole life which has helped him get good grades. He has been able to attend private education due to his wealthy parents who are
both Lawyers. Paul falls under the A category of the ABC1 spending power. I believe in this because he’s a university student so he has a student loan so he has a large
amount of money on him and his parents have lots of money due to their profession which has benefited Paul throughout his life. Therefore, Paul is likely to always be
financially stable.

Paul is very passionate about films which explains why he has a Netflix account. He enjoys watching netflix as there are all sorts of things to watch such as; Series,
Films, Documentaries and TV Programmes etc. He really likes how there is a wide variety of things to watch. His favourite series on Netflix is Outer Banks. It is his
favourite series because it’s action packed, intense, complex and he can relate to the characters as they are at a similar age to him. His favourite character is JJ as he
doesn’t care about what people think of him, he would do anything for his friends and JJ is always involved in the drama. Paul enjoys going to the Cinema in his spare
time as he enjoys watching new films. He likes to be that person who can tell everyone about all the new films. The majority of his mates know that Paul has watched
pretty much everything there is. Paul goes to America quite a lot with his family. He takes advantage of this as he gets to watch films in the cinema in America which
are usually shown earlier in America than in the UK. Paul enjoys watching series such as; Power, Stranger Things and Ozark as they all contain intense scenes. Paul
enjoys listening to podcasts related to films/series as he enjoys how they talk about new films/series in detail which he finds entertaining.

He shops at places such as Urban Outfitters, Flannels and Selfridges. He shops there because she knows that she will get good quality designer clothing and he knows
that it/ll be 100% authentic so he doesn’t mind spending more money. Paul mainly spends his money on shoes, clothes and Jewelry. This is because he is into his
fashion and appearance. Paul tends to go on holiday 2-4 times a year, his most recent holiday was in Dubai. He is able to go to expensive holiday destinations such as
Dubai due to his wealthy parents. He prefers travelling to warm places which allows him to explore without being cold or wet. Paul has been on a few holidays abroad
with his friends to destinations such as Zante and Ibiza. He enjoys going out, socialising and partying with his friends.

Audience Profile - Cam Smith

Cam is a 17 year old male who is a full time student at Priestley College where he studies Biology, Physics and Geography. Cam is very intelligent and hopes to go to
University next year. He lives in Stockton Heath which is a village in Warrington, this is ideal as he is able to walk to college as it is around the corner from where he
lives. He lives with his family in a semi-detached house which he likes as he has his own space to study and relax. Cam is well educated as he has attended school his
whole life. He hasn’t gone to any private schools but he is very intelligent which suggests that he is a hard worker. Cam falls under the B and D category of the ABC1
spending power. I believe in this because he comes from a middle class family (category B) who are financially stable and are skilled workers who are good at their job.
This explains why they live in an expensive area with a good sized house. This applies to Cam because he benefits from this as he lives with his parents. Also, Cam falls
under category D because he is a student and doesn’t have a full time job which means that he doesn’t have a high income. However, he has a part time job where he
works 1-2 times a week which provides him with a solid income.

Cam is very passionate about films which explains why he has a Netflix account. He really likes Netflix because there is a wide variety of things to watch. Also, he really
likes Netflix because he doesn’t have to wait to download things and he can binge watch series as all the episodes come out at once instead of weekly. His favourite
series on Netflix is Outer Banks. It is his favourite series because it’s action packed and intense and he can relate to the characters as they are at a similar age to him.
Cams favourite film on Netflix is The Beach as it is similar to Outer Banks. His favourite series to watch is American Horror Story as it is intense like Outer Banks and it
is about teenagers which he enjoys as he feels like he can relate to characters. Cam enjoys going to the Cinema in his spare time as he enjoys watching new films.
Another one of Cam's hobbies is collecting movie character figurines. He is obsessed with Harry Potter and has a huge collection of figures which he keeps on his shelf
in his bedroom. One of Cam’s favourite things to do is to go to theme parks. He is obsessed with Roller Coasters as he loves adrenaline rushes and intensity. This
explains why he enjoys watching Outer Banks. His favourite theme park is Alton Towers as it has lots of heartracing rides.

He shops at places such as JD, Top Man and Nike. He shops there because she knows that she will get good quality clothing at a good, affordable price. Cam mainly
spends his money on sports clothing and shoes and he enjoys going to the gym and he plays basketball. His favourite clothing brand is Nike as he likes the quality of
the clothing. He enjoys going to the Nike outlet at Cheshire Oaks because he can find very cheap items. Cam tends to go on holiday 1-2 times a year, his most recent
holiday was to Japan with his friend. He loves travelling and he wants to take a gap year to travel all over the world.
 Characters
Characters:
Julian Smith:
He is the Government leader and wants to get rid of the poor even if it means he has to kill them himself. He is the person who came up with the game. Julian will be played by Jason Isaacs. This is because he has had great experience
in acting as villainous characters which will suit the role of Julian as he is an evil character.
Finley Fenton:
He is on the good side (poor) and him and his friend want to escape from the island without having to kill anyone. They aren’t bothered about the treasure. Him and Jack become the leaders of the poor side of the island. Finley will be
played by Blue Landau. This is because he has acted in a well known soap called Eastenders where he will have gained good acting skills. He will be cheap to hire as he is young.
Jack Tucker:
He is on the good side (poor) and he is best friends with Finley. He also wants to leave the island without harming anyone. Him and Finley become the leaders of the poor side of the island. Jack will be played by Asa Butterfield. This is
because Asa has had acting experience playing roles where he’s had to show emotion. This will make him suitable for the role as Jack Tucker as his sister gets killed. Therefore, Asa will have to show emotion which he’ll be good at
doing. Asa is 23 years old. However he looks younger which will make him suitable to play the role of Jack as he is a teenager in the film.
Sophia Tucker:
Sophia is Jack's little sister. Sophia gets killed by a member of the government. This is what causes lots of trouble on the island as people are disgusted by it. Sophia will be played by Honor Davis-Pye. This is because she has played a
role in a horror film where she’s had experience in violence and horror. This makes her suitable for my adaptation as she dies. Therefore, she will make the scene where she dies look realistic and professional as she will know how to
act in this manner. She will be relatively cheap to hire as she is young and hasn’t been in any well known films.
Alice Bowen:
She is from the rich side of the island. Alice used to be a member of the government but she dropped out as she couldn’t handle the stress. She knows secret information about the government and knew that they were planning a
game. She is married to David.
David Bowen:
David is from the rich side of the island. He is the owner of a golf club and owns a few other businesses. He is a very wealthy man who is married to Alice.
Key Scene 1
Beginning:
The beginning of my film will be a drone shot of the island. This is because it will set the scene and indicate to the audience where the film is
located. Therefore, this means that the audience will instantly have good understanding based off of the drone shot of the island. Also, the
drone shot will captivate the audience's attention as it will be a unique shot of the tropical island. This will aesthetically please the audience
which will captivate their attention. Therefore, they are more likely to continue watching the film. The drone shot will also show the wealth
divide as one side of the island will be nice and expensive, and one side of the island will be run down. There will be lash backs from a few
years ago showing a war between the rich and poor side of the island. This will indicate to the audience that the island has had a bad history.
Therefore, will suggest to the audience that the island isn’t a safe place to live. There will be a scene where the government is planning a game
to decrease the population of the island (mainly the poor community) as they want the island to be perfect and lavish. This is because they
want their island to become a wealthy tourist attraction associated with wealth and lavish lifestyles. One of the main characters from the poor
side of the island gets assassinated by a member of the government because they don’t have a good job. This infuriates the poorer civilians
which causes a riot on the island.
Key Scene 2
Middle:
The middle of my film will be about the announcement of the corrupt game created by the government designed to lure in the poorer people
on the island. They do this stating that the prize is treasure and lots of wealth. This will persuade the poorer side of the island to take part in
the game as the majority of them aren’t financially stable. The whole reason that the government created the game is to reduce the amount of
poor people on the island as they are frowned upon by the wealthy people on the island. The government wants the island to be a huge tourist
attraction and they want the island to be perfect, successful and full of wealth. Also, the middle part of my film will show the game take place.
It will be intense and violent to captivate the audience's attention and will be very interesting to watch.
Key scene 3
End:
The end of my film will show a member of the government deliberately set up a boobie trap to try and kill a community of poor people. They
get exposed for this and the video goes viral all across the island. This infuriates all of the island including the upper class/wealthy people and
this persuades some of the wealthy people to join the poorer side of the island as they don’t agree with the video that went viral. This
infuriates the government as they didn’t want this to happen as they want the poor people dead/off the island. There will be more violence
and intense scenes that will keep the audience on the edge of their seat. It will end with the poor people realising that the treasure in their
eyes is ‘freedom’ so they escape the island by using an extremely wealthy family's boat. This will show how rich people value treasure as
physically (wealth) and the poorer people value treasure mentally (freedom).
Feasibility
My film will work because I have adapted it from an extremely popular and successful series on Netflix. This will mean that I will get the
majority of Outer Banks target audience as the film that I created is similar due to the fact that it’s an adaptation. Therefore, my film will have a
passionate target audience as they’ll be excited to watch my adaptation as it will be similar to Outer Banks. My storyline will captivate the
audience's attention as there will be intense and action packed scenes throughout the film. For example, there will be an intense scene where
Sophia Tucker gets assassinated which causes a lot of trouble between the poor and rich people. Due to my low budget, I am only able to use a
couple of well known actors such as Asa Butterfield and Jason Isaacs. This will create a large amount of publicity and attention because Asa and
Jason have lots of fans who look forward to watching them actt in new films. Also, the overall film industry will look forward to watching them
act too which will add to the hype around the film. I believe that it is realistic that my film will work. However, my biggest worry is the location
of the film. This is because Outer Banks might have a problem with me using the same location as them which could prevent me from making
the film. However, I will ask for their permission and negotiate with them. Therefore, I should be allowed to film in Charleston. I won’t be using
expensive technology which will allow me to pay for the accomodation for the crew and cast which will minimise any complications. There is
plenty of accommodation near by which will make the whole production a lot easier as the crew and cast will have easy access to the filming
locations.

Location
The location for my film will be the same location as the original ‘Outer Banks’. This location is Charleston, South Carolina. I have decided to
keep the same location as it is perfect for my adaptation. This is because Charleston has wealthy and poor areas which is important for my film
as the rich and poor divide plays a big part in the film. Areas such as; The Old Village in Mount Pleasant, James Island, Johns Island, Kiawah
Island, Charleston Harbour, Hunting Island and the Morris Island Lighthouse. Another reason why I have kept the same location is because I
won’t have to worry about and complications with filming in that area. This is because the Outer Banks crew and cast were allowed to film
there. Therefore, I will be allowed to film there as long as I ask for permission and plan the production in advance as it will take a lot of
organising. Another reason why I have chosen this location is because there is a harbour. This is important for my adaptation as this is how the
good characters who see the treasure as “freedom” escape the island. Without the harbour, my adaptation wouldn’t work.
Budget
My budget will be a comparison to the film Blue Story. This is an English that has a budget of £1.3 million and this will roughly be the same
price as my production. I will only be spending this amount on my film because I won't be using CGI in any of my scenes because I won't have
the budget to afford this type of technology. The only type of technology that i’ll be including in my film is a drone. Drones are relatively cheap
which will allow me to include drone shots in my film without breaking my budget. I will spend my budget on a few well known characters, as
this will boost my production and make the film be bigger if people will recognise the different actors. Also, i’ll be spending my budget on
transport for the cast and crew, accomodation for the cast and crew, renting out vehicles such as boats/jet skis and filming equipment. As my
film is a low budget film, it will mean that I will make a greater profit as I won’t be spending much money. Therefore, my adaptation will have a
good reputation due to its successful profits. This will allow me to invest into a second film which should be even better than the first film as I
will have more money to include better things. Things such as more expensive technology such as CGI which will make my adaptation more
creative and visually appealing for the audience. Therefore, I will be able to keep expanding and making more films and profit.
