• Definition :´ An enterprise owned and controlled by women having a


minimum financial interest of 51% of capital and giving at least 51%
of employment generated in the enterprise to women.
• ´Women who think of a business enterprise, initiate it, organize and
combine the factors of production, operate the enterprise and
undertake risk and handle economic uncertainty involved in running
a business enterprise.

Shahnaz Husain
She started Shahnaz Herbals Inc, and introduced the
concept of herbal cosmetics in India. The company is
best known for its herbal cosmetics, particularly skin
care products 'without animal testing,' and has over 400
franchise clinics in 138 countries.

Shahnaz Husain is the founder, chairperson & managing director of The Shahnaz
Husain Group. Shahnaz Husain has received international acclaim for pioneering
the Herbal beauty care movement and taking the Indian herbal heritage of
Ayurveda worldwide.
She was invited by Harvard Business School to speak on her success story of
establishing an international brand without commercial advertising and has also
become a Harvard Case Study which is included in its curriculum.

Corporate social responsibility: Shahnaz Husain has empowered the physically


challenged (speech, hearing and visually impaired) through her free beauty training
courses. Her beauty academy has trained and certified over 40,000 under-
privileged women, distributing tool kits for home-based businesses.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw
(born 23 March 1953) is an Indian billionaire entrepreneur. She is the chairperson and
managing director of Biocon Limited, a biotechnology company based in Bangalore, India
and the chairperson of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
Forbes listed her in 2016 and 2017 - the most powerful women in the world at 77th and 71st
position respectively.

She started Biocon India in 1978 in the garage of her rented house in Bengaluru with a seed
capital of Rs. 10,000. Although it was a joint venture, Indian laws restricted foreign ownership
to 30% of the company. The remaining 70% belonged to Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.

Mazumdar spearheaded Biocon's evolution from an industrial enzymes manufacturing


company to a fully integrated bio-pharmaceutical company with a well-balanced business
portfolio of products and a research focus on diabetes, oncology and auto-immune diseases.
Sabina Chopra, Yatra.com
The co-founder of the Indian travel portal
Yatra.com, Sabina was the head of India
operation of e-Bookers, a European online
travel company. Since she had some
experience and online travel commerce was
just in the initial stages in India, her startup
soon became one of the leading portals and
was later declared as a winner in Travel and
Tourism group in 2010.

lingerie products, Zivame.com.

Richa Kar discovered that women weren’t actually


comfortable in shopping lingerie products in outlets, so she
developed an online platform which has over two thousand
styles to choose from.

Zivame takes care of its delivery as it is discreet and packed


without and branding and product description which does
not lead to any embarrassment for any of their consumers.

The company is an ongoing success and has become


women’s first choice for shopping.
She is also a Director on the Board of one of the group companies, HCL
Roshni Nadar Malhotra
Technologies, a leading global technology and IT company.
Roshni is a Trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation which is committed to
the process of nation building by driving transformational leadership
through education.
To that purpose the Foundation has established the SSN Institutions,
today among the top private engineering colleges in India, the
interdisciplinary Shiv Nadar University, the transformational Vidya
Gyan Leadership Academies, the progressive Shiv Nadar Schools, the
iconic Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and the innovative Shiksha, a

Divya Jain is an industry-known machine learning expert and leader. She
was the Co-Founder and Chief Architect of dLoop Inc., a company that
focused on providing advanced predictive analytics for data in cloud.
dLoop, was acquired by Box in 2013.
At Box, Divya led a team tasked with building machine learning
capabilities into the Box platform. She has 10+ years of experience in
building large scale data driven products and she is a regular speaker at

Director at Tyco Innovation Garage and leads the deep learning initiatives
in video surveillance space.
