INTRODUCTION

 Pakistan International Airline (PIA) is the national flag carrier of Pakistan.


PIA is the national airline and the main cargo service around the world.
 Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIA) was founded by the
Government of Pakistan on 11th March 1955, when PIA took over Orient
Airways.
 Nationalized on 10th January 1955, Pakistan International Airways

Q1 : How do you manage your HR department?
What HR Planning process you develop to achieve
your goals?

 10 HR managers at each city including Lahore, Quetta, Karachi, Peshawar and


Islamabad.
 Some of the functions are being centralized and only upper management is
responsible for the operations of that particular functions.
 To achieve their goals, PIA HR department follows proper planning processes.
 As PIA is very vast organization working in HR and different departments, it is
very complicated to comprehend the complete HR planning process in one
interview.
Q2 : Describe the process you go through to ensure hiring
employees?
 The function of hiring/recruitment is actually to fulfill the man power
requirement of PIA organization.
 The HR department first determines the vacancies which need to be filled up by
internal promotions.
 If there is no availability of employees for the vacancy then the external
recruitment process is followed.
 The external recruitment is to encourage external hiring PIA publicize the
vacancy on the leading newspapers other than this the vacancy post is also
publicized on PIA website.
 Internal recruitment is done by advertising the rank of any current employee by
ascertaining its capacities, for this the HR managers assisted by performance
appraisals of the employees which has a record of their performances. The
succession planning is done accordingly.
Q3 : What is your process of employee selection?
 For the competent hiring PIA selection varies from one department to another
department which means each department has different selection procedures and
methods.
 The selection of airhostess has the procedure that includes grooming test, height test
and the medical test.
 The selection process of cockpit crew has the procedure of conducting tests. PIA takes
the simulation tests as well. The tests are generally taken before an interview. There
are two methods used by PIA for all types including written tests and interviews.
 These selection process involves the following 7 steps:

 There is an inherent link between corporate culture and performance.


 And if there is no link exists between corporate culture and performance then the
company might face strong challenges and eventually the performance of the
company will go down.
