My visit to Frankfurt for the 2014 Auto

Show was great. This was the 65th edition
of the fair. It took place from September
25th to October 2nd in Hanover, Germany.

I arrived in Germany on Tuesday, 23rd of

September, two days before the start of the
event. I flew from New York to Frankurt. I
enjoyed the flight a lot.

I arrived at the exhibition center on

Wednesday, which was the first day of the
show. There were outdoor and indoor
exhibitions and lot of visitors.

I first visited the electric cars pavilion.

There were several exhibitions by different
car makers. I enjoyed them all.
The place was full of people because the
cars were really amazing.

A few days later, I attended a presentation

about the cars of the future. The exhibitors
showed a 3D clip about new technologies in
car manufacturing. These exhibition was
very interesting too. They even had a see-
through model car made in glass.

Before the end of the show, I had the

opportunity to do a drive test of a very
modern vehicle.

I traveled with a group of visitors to a nearby

circuit. We chose our favorite car and drove
along the circuit for several minutes. I felt
like a real race pilot!

Before leaving Germany, I had to try the

local food: sausages, of course! During the
last day of the show, I visited one of the local
restaurants. I ordered the Frankfurter
Würstchen which means “The little
Frankfurt saugage” It was absolutely
delicious! I also had a sauerkraut (cabbage
in vinegar) and a beer with it. These are the
usual sides that German people eat with
sausage.

My experience at filbo 2016.

Since 1988, the Colombian Chamber of Books and

Corferias has held the Bogotá International Book Fair,
a successful alliance that has allowed the positioning
of this cultural event, as one of the most important in
the Spanish-speaking world.

At the Bogota International Book Fair, all the actors in

the book chain (authors, publishers, proofreaders,
translators, distributors, agents and booksellers) meet
together with their readers to make up this book
ecosystem that grows and grows every year. Thanks
to these spaces for training and promoting books and
reading, it strengthens.

After a long time wanting to go to the book fair, I

finally managed to do it in 2016, I was
at the fair between April 22 and 24. The first day I
visited the Filbo it was just amazing. Maybe it was
a beginner's emotion or the impact of the first
moment, but since I set foot in Corferias I fell even
more in love with literature, science, knowledge.

At the Fair there is an atmosphere of intelligence

and calm that someone who is going for the first
time is not expected. This is something especially
surprising considering that it is Bogotá, I think that
no one would ever describe Bogotá as a city of
calm, ever. It is a chaotic, explosive, busy city and
although I love that it is far from being calm. It
must be, without a doubt, a charming spell that
changes your mood since you are aware that you
are at the book fair.

Perhaps one of the best things about the Filbo

was being surrounded by such wonderful people
who share the same interests, it was easy to even
have a conversation with older adults because we
all had something in common and, in the end, one
ends up realizing that we are not as different as
we think we are.

But, not everything is rosy. The next day that wonderful spell
was broken and reality just floated up. On Saturday, April 23, a
famous youtuber appeared at the Filbo, who managed to gather
thousands of people outside the corferias before noon to wait
for an autograph. That same day, one of the main reasons for
my attendance at the Fair, Fernando Vallejo, was presented.
Unfortunately, I couldn't see Vallejo. But all this led me to think,
How intellectual are we when the best-selling book at the fair
was "written" by someone whose literary knowledge is nil?
How intellectual are we when we take our children to line up
for hours even in the rain just to get a scratch on paper? And
what I really want to know, how is it possible that a YOUTUBER
brings together in a BOOK FAIR more people than writers with
great experience in the world of literature? Is it that we like
what entertains us more than what it does not teach?

Regardless, I can't say I'm disappointed or it

wasn't worth it, it was a wonderful experience and
I would choose it a thousand times again. We still
have a long way to go to be an example, we lack
education, we lack culture, we lack awareness,
but I am optimistic, we are on a good path and
that is certain when we see the large number of
stands with children's literature at the fair.
