Condition of the people

Habit of burning garbage

It is considered practical and easy to do.
One of the toxic substances released into
the air is NOx or Nitrogen oxide which can
cause smog.

Slash and burn mindset

To clear the forest into ready-to-plant land,
entrepreneurs or communities still have the
mindset that slash and burn system is the
most effective and relatively inexpensive
way.
Local culture that related to the damage

Farming activities by Anak Dalam tribe

Forest fires can also occur due to the farming activities of the Anak Dalam tribe
every year. One of them is Bekor or burning the roots, shrubs, and trees. However,
the farming activities by Anak Dalam tribe do not have much impact on
environmental damage because the use of forest resources will rotate into forest
again. The remains of burning are mixed on the land to be used for farming, by
hoeing the land. This aims to replace chemical fertilizers that can make nutrients
decrease. The selection of plants that are used as intercropping also has a balance
value.

Environmental Support Capacity Analysis

Deforestation leads to reducing the function of forests as

water reservoirs. As a result, the forest's support capacity is
reduced.

Environmental and Social Conflicts

Environmental Carrying Capacity Analysis

The existence of forest fires that are exceeded results in a decreased in the quality
of the environment from daily life, and the loss of biodiversity to endemic plants.
So as to make the environmental capacity as a function of the forest is decreased.
Environmental and Social Conflict

Forest fires are a potential threat to sustainable development

efforts. It needs to be underlined, that forest fires are a multi-
sectoral problem. Some examples of environmental and social
conflicts that occur due to forest fires in Jambi and their solutions
are as follows (Supriyanto et al., 2018)

forest and land fires
Conclusion

Jambi Province is an area prone to forest and land fires. This puts Jambi province in 9th place out of 34
provinces based on the total area burned. Environmental damage can be caused by 2 factors, namely
irresponsible human activities and natural disasters. The forest and land fires case is very difficult to
avoid because the burned lands in Jambi Province are dominated by peatlands. Forest fires cause
various losses to society, ranging from health, social, ecological, economic and reputational problems.
Forest fires have an impact on global warming, climate change, loss or reduction of forests as an
absorber of carbon dioxide gas that is harmful to humans and produces oxygen gas that is It is really
needed by humans, lack of water absorption places, loss of habitat for animals and their animals and
cause various kinds of diseases and endanger human health. The habit of burning trash is still common
in Jambi because burning is considered practical and easy to do. The existence of farming activities
carried out by the Suku Anak Dalam can be one of the factors causing forest fires. If deforestation has
occurred, the support capacity and the carrying capacity environmental as a function of the forest will
decrease.
Thanks!
