 Force is any interaction that, when unopposed, will change the motion of an
object.
 It can also be called as a push or pull.
EFFECTS OF FORCE

A force acting on an object may cause the object to change shape, to start moving, to stop moving, to
accelerate or decelerate.
CONTACT FORCE

• Contact force is a force that is applied by objects in contact with each other.
• Contact force acts on a point of direct contact between the two objects

Types of contact force:

• Frictional Force
• Air Resistance/ Drag Force
NON CONTACT FORCE
A non-contact force is a force which acts on an object without coming physically in contact with it.
Balanced force
• When the net force acting on an object is 0 N then the object is said to have a balanced
force acting on it.
• Net Force: the sum of all the forces acting on an object.
• If the forces are acting against each other then they get cancelled out.
UNBALANCED FORCE

When the net force acting on an object is not 0 N then the object is said to have an
unbalanced force acting on it.
FRICTION

• Friction is the force that opposes the motion of an object.

• Frictional Force refers to the force generated by two surfaces that contacts and
slide against each other.
• These forces are mainly affected by the surface texture and amount of force
impelling them together.
• It is a contact force.
• Friction is said to be a necessary evil because it is useful as well as harmful. friction
helps us to walk, write, hold things, lift objects. So it is necessary in our lives.
Without friction many essential processes can not be done.
• On the other hand, it is also unnecessary at times. It sometimes results in loss of
energy, wear and tear of parts of machinery, due to which it also damages things.
