Activity: The Chemical Body

Body composition may be analyzed in various ways. This can be done in

terms of the chemical elements present.

1. List the 10 elements present in the human body in your journal.
2. State the location of each element in the periodic table i.e. to which
group or period does it belong?
3. State its percent composition in the human body.
4. Research question: Where do we obtain these elements from
i.e. list the food items that are the source of these elements for us.
 Identify the elements in the following acids(Hint: Ignore the numbers, Only look at the chemical symbols)
