Making a Biographical montage

• The teacher collects some photos, objects or


anything which is relevant to the author's
life. This materials/objects are mounted on to
a larger piece of card. The students then are
invited to speculate the meaning of the items
in the montage.
D. Continuing the story line

• Having read the first section of a text,


students are asked to study a range of
possible continuations of a story line.
Then they chose the one they
consider the author would have used.
E. Comparing beginnings

• The teacher takes three or four


opening from novels or short stories
with fairly similar begginings, and asks
the students to respond to the
contrasts.
F. Writing Chapter 0

• Students are asked to write the


paragraphs that come
immediately before the first
section of the work which they
have just encountered.
