Role of Calendars in Project Scheduling

• Estimate of activities durations are made

on the basis of resources available or
minimum required resources.
• But don’t know how much calendar days
are required to complete an activity.

“Calendars are defined to specify work days

on which an activity can be executed”
Role of Calendars in Project Scheduling

• This information is needed to calculate

start and end date of activities. For
example:

Activity showing on calendar

Suppose there is holiday on Thursday

Now it will finish on Saturday

Suppose there is a holiday on Saturday and Friday

Now activity having duration of 4 days, will take 7 calendar days to complete

To add, modify or delete calendar go to main menu and click enterprise then calendars

Global Calendar
can be assigned
to any project or
resource.

Calendars are
divided intro three
categories

To change starting day of week go to main menu and click admin then admin preferences

In general tab
select starting
day of week as
Monday

To create a new calendar click on add button

Select any calendar

as a base calendar
and modify

Rename your calendar and modify it according to your requirements

First open the project then in

bottom layout click on default
tab and add calendar according
to your requirement
