INDIAN CULTURE: NEPALI CULTURE:


The culture of India is very diverse; with each Similarly, Due to presence of muti-diversity in

Western culture is characterized by a host of artistic,

played an important part in the shaping of Western
civilization since at least the 4th century Also

tradition of rationalism in various spheres of life,
developed by Hellenistic philosophy, Scholasticism,
humanism, the Scientific Revolution and the
Enlightenment. Values of Western culture have,
throughout history, been derived from political thought,

widespread employment of rational argument favoring
free thought, assimilation of human rights, the need for
equality, and democracy.
EFFECTS OF WESTERN CULTURE IN INDIA:

• Increasing globalization has increased the influence of western culture in India

• Western civilization does not link knowledge and morality but rather in connects knowledge and
power and makes them equivalent.

• Westernization has been spread through out our country because of MEDIA.

• Catalogues, Magazines, Billboards clearly shows the impact of westernization in india.

1) LANGUAGE CONFUSION:

HINDI OR ENGLISH?
• A dilemma most INDIANS are facing now a days especially the youth.

• Most INDIANS are moving away from their mother language and
adopting ENGLISH

• Our education is focusing too much on ENGLISH at all levels

2) INFLUENCE OF WESTERNIZATION ON CLOTHING:

• Whatever fashion becomes popular abroad, it is being adopted by people here

• Indian fashion industry is so inspired by the foreign styles that they don’t even hesitate before introducing
revealing clothes in.

3) CELEBERATIONS:

• HOLI , DIWALI in India is slowly and steadily loosing its charm and importance in the youngsters

• They are more enthusiastic towards HALLOWEEN, VALENTINES DAY

• The main concern should be that how far this influence going to effect the young generation today?

VALUES:

• Westernization has intruded so deeply into our culture that the INDIAN values and TRADITION have
faded away

• No longer do people respond to the call for prayers, in fact they DO Drink and smoke openly

SOCIETY:

• The traditional concept of home-cooked food in our culture is being replaced by fast food meals by
renowned chains like KFC,PIZZA HUT, MC DONALDS

• The introduction of ENERGY DRINKS also played a part in diminishing the use of our traditional drinks

6) INDIVIDUALITY:

• JOINT FAMILY SYSTEM a trademark of INDIAN social culture is loosing its value and seems to be
vanishing from the scene

• The youth of today believes in individuality and as a result we have seen a rise in crime rates, divorces
and psychological disorders

1. It may be due to deviancy from our religion, as a culture of any nation reflects in its religion.

2. The media of today is exploiting the personalities of new generation. It presents the western world in such a glittering
way that anybody can become its victim

CONCLUSION

Westernization has influenced every aspect of daily life ranging from cuisine to the basic human right.

Westernization has not only created amongst the public but it was a step-forward towards modernization
and modernization in no sense can be regarded as harmful.

On the other hand too much interest of youth towards western influences can be regarded as a negative
impact on the society
