Method Method
Primary Data Collection Methods
Quantitative data collection methods

-it is based in mathematical calculations in

various formats.

It includes:

• Questionnaires with closed-ended questions

• Methods of correlation and regression
• Mean
• Mode and median
Qualitative data collection methods

- do not involve numbers or mathematical calculations. It is

closely associated with words, sounds, feeling, emotions and
other elements that are non-quantifiable.

It includes:

• Interviews
• Questionnaires with open-ended questions
• Focus groups
• Observation
• Case studies
Secondary Data Collection Methods

-it is a type of data that has already been published in

books, newspapers, magazines, journals, online
portals etc.
-it have been collected by someone else and which
have already been passed through the statistical
process.
• The goal for all data collection is to capture
quality evidence that allows analysis to
lead to the formulation of convincing and
credible answers to the questions that
have been posed.
• Regardless of the field of study or

preference for defining data (quantitative,

qualitative), accurate data collection is
essential to maintaining the integrity of
research.
ANALYSIS PROCEDURE

SURVEY
- Is a commonly-used method of collecting
information about a population of interest.
The population may be composed of a
group of individuals.
INTERVIEW

- Is a conversation for gathering information. It is an

appropriate method when there is a need to collect in-
depth information on people’s opinions, thoughts,
experiences, and feelings.
OBSERVATIONS

- As the name implies, it is a way of collecting data

through observing. Observation data collection method
is classified as a participatory study, because the
researcher has to immerse herself/himself in the setting
where her/his respondents are, while taking notes and
recording.
