Claim

Use For My Talent is a show somewhat inspired by Romeo and Juliet.

It depicts the relationship between two lovers who come from
completely different backgrounds. Their families don’t want them
together because both families believe the other will ruin their family
name. They were separated and had to find ways to communicate and
send their love to one another. It almost ended tragically over an
incident that would’ve brought emotional harm to the both of them.
Fortunately, their families realized that the love those two had for
each other was too precious to break apart, so they let them be
together after they proved how much they cared for one another.

Evidence for Connection example 1:

 Their families don’t want them together because both
families believe the other will ruin their family name.
Consider
 Evidence (dialogue, images, etc…) This show is all in including a
mandarin but in one of the episodes, Renqi’s grandpa
went to his girlfriend’s father to tell him that Renqi and
Jiao shouldn’t be together because they weren’t a good
related graphic or
match and they would bring shame to the Gu family
name. Jiao’s father felt the same way and forbid Jiao
picture
from seeing Renqi.

Evidence for Connection example 2:

 They were separated and had to find ways to
communicate and send their love to one another.
 Evidence (dialogue, images, etc…) After jiao’s father
forced her from seeing Renqi, her brother and his
girlfriend decided to help them send their gifts to each
other without her father knowing unfortunately they
were caught. So he extended her “imprisonment”

 It almost ended tragically over an incident that would’ve
brought emotional harm to the both of them
 Evidence (dialogue, images, etc…) Renqi was fed up with
not being able to see Jiao so he went to her house and
Renqi and Jiao’s father had a stern confrontation. Jiao’s
father thought that Renqi knew about his grandfather
coming over there. A lot of emotions were stirred because
of this misunderstanding. Renqi felt guilty and thought
that he didn’t deserve Jiao but she reassured him that
they would get through this together.

Meaning/Message/Central Idea
Romeo and Juliet shows audiences that
love overcomes hate.
 How?
 By performing R&J as a play, audiences are
pulled into the drama and action.
 Shakespeare uses poetic dialogue which
formalizes his work and amuses the audience.
 Shakespeare uses stage devices to set the tone
of the scene (costumes/settings/lighting/etc…).
 Shakespeare’s play takes place in Verona,
Italy, which would be an exotic locale for his
audience and beautify the stage.
Use For My Talent continues this idea but adds a
ethical/cultural element to their hatred,
modernizing the story and adding emotion for
audiences.
 How?
 By making it a rom/com drama it emphasizes
the playful love but also still conveys the
emotions of the characters
 The drama includes singing, and portrays the
hardships of having power but how love
conquers all and can completely change you.
 This show takes place in the 21 st century in
China, although it’s a different country the
characters are still very relatable
