What is Addiction?

• Addiction is a very heavy and substantial


word to associate with individuals and their
habits. Unfortunately, it still exists in our
vast world. Addiction can be defined as a
continuous habit that a person engages into
and is unable to stop themselves from doing
so.
•  Amidst the many types of addiction, this
presentation will concisely focus on the
addiction of Gambling.

during which you risk money, or
something of monetary value, in
order to win money or a prize.
There are many forms of
gambling, including lotteries,
poker, betting on sports or events
and playing casino games.

How many people are gamblers?

Based on various surveys in recent years, it is estimated that around 100


million people in the US are addicted to gambling. 

Thus, we can easily say that this is becoming an alerting issue. If you’re
a gambler, you can't control the impulse to gamble, even when it has
negative consequences for you or your loved ones.

Mixed Emotions
• Gambling is all about emotions. From
the excitement of playing, to the
anticipation of the outcome, to the
nervousness of losing, we can see that
players experience a rollercoaster of
emotions. Despite these emotions, people
find themselves engrossed with guilt,
regret or sorrow.

“I don’t spend much on gambling but I’m thinking about it too

individuals finding themselves in
financial debt.

million Americans go into debt
because of gambling and the
average loss is estimated to be
around $55,000.

#3 – Struggle to Maintain Relationships
• Struggling to maintain relationships is a colossal effect of gambling.
Your Relationships •  Arguing more with your partner or family about money, spending less
time with people and more time gambling, lying to friends and family
Matter about losses, stealing money from friends and family to gamble with are
all ways on how relationships experience ignorance.
