ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who provided
us the possibility to complete this report.  We are grateful to our subject
teacher, Lec. Ashmin Aryal Sir who provided us the opportunity to prepare
the report and provided continuous suggestions and
encouragement, helped us to perform thorough research and widen the
horizon of our knowledge on different vertical transportation system.. We
express our gratitude to the staffs of United World Center for providing us
with the necessary resources for our case studies. We would like to thank
the local people for providing us the valuable information on our case
study. We are especially thankful to Kathmandu Engineering College and
Department of Architecture for providing the opportunity and the
assistance with resources and materials.
Furthermore, we have to appreciate the guidance given by some of our
seniors who have helped us in different ways.
ABSTRACT
Elevators and escalators are the crucial element that makes it
practical to live and work several floors above ground. Elevators use
about 4% of the electricity in tertiary sector buildings. This report
presents a literarure and case study on the vertical transportation
system that are commonly used. Operators and manufacturers of
lifts, escalators and moving walkways need to satisfy a wide range
of regulations, standards and international directives .
