What is WEB 2.0 ?
 At the heart of all Web 2.0 tools lies the
word collaboration.
 What differentiates Web 2.0 tools is that
they encourage participation from the user
as opposed to the user just gathering
information from them.
 People are encouraged to create their
own content, collaborate with others and
share the work they have created.
Characteristics
 Hyperlinking is the foundation of the web.

 Users add new content, and new sites, it is

bound in to the structure of the web by other
users discovering the content and linking to it.

 Users can own the data on a Web 2.0 site and

exercise control over that data.
Characteristics
• Another big element of Web 2.0 is
democracy.

• The most dramatic example of Web 2.0

democracy is not in the selection of ideas, but
their production.

• The ultimate way to be nice to users is to

give them something for free that competitors
charge for.
