National Power

 When we speak of power , we actually mean , man’s


control over the mind and actions of others men.

 When we speak of political power we refer to the mutual


relations of control ,among the holders of public
authority and people at large.

 What ever the ultimate aim of international politics,


power is always the immediate aim.
National Power
Power can be defined as the ability or capacity to
control others and get them to do and also to see that
they do not do what one does not want them to do.
Therefore it is the ability to control the behavior of
other states in accordance with one state’s will.
National Power
A nation may be large, may be wealthy, may even be great
but it can not be called powerful if she can not influence
the behavior of other states. Thus National power is more
than the sum total of population, raw materials and
quantitative factors.

The alliance potential of a nation, its public dedication, the


flexibility of its institutions, its technical know how, its
capacity to bear poverty , these are but a few quantitative
elements that determine the total strength of a nation.

politics as money plays in market economy.

and armies are the real foundations of power but it is not
the simple possession of these which make a nation
powerful. It is possession of certain elements and their

Ideology helps the govt in finding support from the people.it also
serve a good weapon to raise the moral of people

factor

League of nation and UN has also limited the use of
nuclear weapon which is dangerous for entire world
,which indirectly resulted in the curtailment /decrease
of national power

 International Organization
League of nation and UN has restrained /controlled
the power of the states .States are expected to act in
accordance with principle of UN charter
