WHAT IS GENDER IDENTITY?

Gender identity is the personal sense of one's own
gender.[1] Gender identity can correlate with a
person's assigned sex at birth or can differ from it

IMPORTANCE OF GENDER IDENTITY

 Feeling able to show your true gender identity is important


to your emotional and mental health.There are lots of possible
gender identities out there. People can identify as one of the
binary genders,as moving between genders,as no gender as
another gender altogether.
 To identify or classify the gender of an individual.
 Gender identity is important because a whole lot of people
have one, and to them it describes some part of who they are.
This isn't just about trans people, either; there are a far greater
number of cis people who have a gender identity than there are
trans people.
GENDER EQUALITY

The Philippines ranked as the most gay-friendly nations in
Asia.The country ranked as the 10th-most gay-friendly in a 2013
global survey covering 39 countries, in which only 17 had majorities
accepting homosexuality. Titled "The Global Divide on
Homosexuality", the survey conducted by the Pew Research Center
showed that 73% of adult Filipinos agreed with the statement that
"homosexuality should be accepted by society", up by nine
percentage points from 64% in 2002.
The Government is planning to reform gender identity rules to
make it easier for people to choose their own gender in LAW.

sex.Compare with cisgender.
To fulfill the desire to be a men/women.
The Gender Identity Disorder Label
Despite the fact that the causes of a transgender identity
aren't known, being transgender has typically been viewed
as a psychological issue. In fact, it even has its own
psychiatric diagnosis in the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders: "Gender Identity Disorder." Of
course, not everyone feels that such a label is appropriate.
CISGENDER

A word used for those people whose assigned sex at


birth matches their gender identity and expression.
