MEDIA

The term the media in English refers basically to TV,


radio, and newspapers; means of communication which
reach very large numbers of people. This page looks at
some useful for talking about the mass media and about
publishing in general.

TV aerial (antenna TV)
The function is for reception of a signal,
electromagnetic energy impinging on the
antenna is converted into radio-frequency
electrical energy and fed into the receiver.

Satellite dish (parabola)


The primary function of a satellite dish is to
convert microwave signals into electric signals
that can be used by a computer, television and
other devices
ON/OFF button (tombol
ON/OFF)

An on/off toggle circuit breaks the current when it's in


the "off" position. When it's in the "on" position, the
current--or loop--is completed.

Remote control
A function that allows the output voltage of the
Power Supply to be turned ON and OFF from
an external signal while the input voltage is
being applied to the Power Supply.
Camcorder (kamera perekam)

Camcorders are used by nearly all electronic


media, from electronic-news organizations to
current-affairs TV productions.

A video tape (kaset video)


Videotapes are used for storing scientific
or medical data, such as the data produced
by an electrocardiogram.
TV set

The TV set is the central element of any audio/visual


setup. It allows us to watch programs received by
antenna, cable or satellite, and movies via our VCR.

Headphone

Headphones allow you to listen to audio


or watch a movie without disturbing
people around you.

on a person, an issue, or an event

One of the people who


runs a newspaper.
Editorial

An article in which the people who


run a newspaper give their opinion
on an important issue.
TABLOID
NEWPAPER

Focuses more on sensations than real


news whereas a quality newspaper to be
more interested in real news than in
sensation. A tabloid usually has a
smaller format than a quality paper, it
has larger headlines and shorter stories
and, in Britain, it prefers stories about
film stars violent crimes and the royal
family.
MAGAZINE

Magazines are a type of periodical. They


are called periodicals because new
versions of them keep being printed.
Magazines are printed on paper. People
usually need to subscribe to them.
Magazines are similar to newspapers,
but usually new versions take longer to
make, they cost more money, and they
are in color on every page.
JOURNAL

A journal is a scholarly publication


containing articles written by
researchers, professors and other
experts. Journals focus on a specific
discipline or field of study. Unlike
newspapers and magazines, journals are
intended for an academic or technical
audience, not general readers.
COMIC

A comic is a magazine usually for


children or teenagers, which lots of
picture stories and a cartoon.
