 How did the funding eco system
change with time ?

As there are typically multiple development projects running by
various actors and consortiums - one of the first and most
important ecosystem development responsibility is to have
understanding of the ecosystem maturity level and to check if
a mutually aligned vision, mission and top level strategy exist at
ecosystem level that key actors mutually agree on, where multiple
development projects logically link to, and all key actors are
aware of the key development projects of each others.

priority to be created.
 Do cities play a major role in
funding?

Yes cities do play a major role in funding, escepicially smart
cities. Smart cities are up with a new concept with new
technologies. Attracting investors requires a comprehensive
strategic plan that clearly communicates the opportunity and
presents a robust business model, a creative approach to
funding and financing—new sources of revenue, new
business models for recovery and value capture—and
innovative financing structures for investors.
 Which industries are favoured by investors for
funding ?

Financial services witnessed the highest foreign funds inflow among the top five most-favoured sectors during
the reported period. That was led by banks, which attracted $6.36-billion investment, as their asset quality
improved. “Private sector banks witnessed massive earnings upgrades on improving asset quality outlook and
recovery in business trends,” according to Motilal Oswal’s Bulls & Bear r& Bear report for December 2020.

Overseas investors pumped into the consumer sector as demand for essentials and discretionary goods
improved, helped by the rural sector on account of a rise in income, good monsoon and government support.
“From a demand standpoint, staples and essential products continue to benefit from Covid-19-led tailwinds on
health, hygiene and immunity-boosting products,” the Motilal Oswal report said. The auto sector remained
among the top draws despite high valuations compared to their historical average. Motilal Oswal expects
passenger vehicles and tractors to grow on a low inventory. The demand recovery in the commercial vehicle
segment is expected toward the latter part of 2020-21. The oil & gas sector attracted foreign inflows as the crude
price rose, demand for petroleum products revived , and industrial and transportation activities picked up.

 This can be ascertained from the fact that the Indian
startups recorded a total funding of $11.5 Bn,
which is 10% lower than 2019, but across 924 deals,
which 14% higher than the previous year.
 Early and growth stage companies with equity exposures
ranging from INR 1 crore to INR 10 crore. 
 Government of Uttar Pradesh has established a 
UP Startup Fund with a corpus size of INR 1,000 crore
