• Haiti comprises a third of the island
of Hispaniola, to the west of the
Dominican Republic and between
the Caribbean Sea and the North
Atlantic. The geographical
coordinates of Haiti are 72 ° 25 ′

Flag

• The flag of Haiti was adopted on February 25,


1986, but its design dates back to the early
19th century. It is a flag composed of two
horizontal stripes, of the same size, colored
blue and red. In the center of the same
figure, within a white rectangle, the national
coat of arms.

• The blue represents the former slaves and the


red represents the mulatto population, who
are people of mixed black and white descent.
The first flag began to be used in 1806, and it
became official with the national constitution
of February 25, 2012.

• The gastronomy of Haiti is influenced by its

• On the first of January, to celebrate Haiti's


Independence Day, the only meal that is made
throughout the day is pumpkin soup.

• The Haiti soccer team is the national


representative of this country. It is
controlled by the Haitian Football
Federation, belonging to CONCACAF
and FIFA. Haiti has been one of the
few representatives of the Caribbean
islands in the Soccer World Cup, along
with Cuba, Jamaica and Trinidad and
Tobago.
