Scope and Objective

Project Scope
To check the airflow performance of different diffuser in the given domain for all isothermal, heating and
cooling conditions.

Analysis Objective
1) To perform air flow analysis to find airflow performance.

Model/Sizes in Analysis
At present, this report contains CFD analysis of 6400 diffuser at low, mid, high flow rate in isothermal
condition.

CAD vs CFD model

CAD Model CFD Model

As per our discussion, we considered the followings for the analysis

• The marked red boxed region in the CAD model shows the
undesirable region for cfd, which has been not considered.
• The marked green boxed region shows the exhaust opening, which is
open to the atmosphere.

As per our discussion, we considered the followings for the

analysis
• The marked red boxed region in the CAD model shows the
undesirable region for cfd, which has been not considered.
• The marked green boxed region shows the exhaust opening,
which is open to the atmosphere.
• The (red arrowed) sidewall supply plenum and cold room has
not been considered for the demo array diffuser analysis. Demo array diffusers

velocity Vs length graph is plotted.

Explanation on how graphs are plotted?

How we have plotted velocity (fpm) Vs distance (feet)

graph is explained below,

• The img 01 shows, line created in order to collect the

simulated results along length of the line.
• The collected data’s are used to plot the graph.
• In this particular 6400 diffuser, we have deflectors,
directing air in four different directions, because of this
we have created four different lines.
• The collected data’s are plotted and comparing with
the performance datasheet, one single graph is
selected and the same is used in this report.

Img:01,(top view) The above image shows, line created for the data
points from which velocity Vs length graph is plotted.

Limitation of CFD data sampling Vs Manual Data Sampling

• In manual sampling, a velocity measuring probe is used to read

data in any given location, in any direction based on the wind
flow direction and by this we can record data from any
particular point.
• In cfd, we can create only straight line as shown in img:01.
• The img-02 shows, the swirling nature of the flow after passing
through the deflectors. Because of the swirl’s, created straight
line is hard to fix exactly, thus limiting the cfd approximation
when compared to manual data reading. Img:02,(top view) The above image shows, Velocity in
